A place of healing and hope.

Safe Haven Counseling provides the following services:

  • In person therapy sessions (in Towson), with individuals that live in Maryland.
  • Online therapy with individuals that live in Maryland, using HIPAA compliant software.
  • Nature therapy sessions outdoors in the Spring and Fall seasons.
  • I welcome people of all races, genders, sexual orientation, ethnicities, religions, and abilities. I enjoy working with members of the BIPOC community, LGBTQIA community, and immigrants.

Child and Adolescent Therapy (6 - 17 years)

I provide therapy to children and teens who are struggling with anxiety, depression, school, friendships, relationships, low self-confidence, bullying, grief and trauma. Most children I work with struggle with expressing their feelings and managing emotions. Most teenagers I work with struggle with not feeling heard, understood or appreciated. I provide a safe space for children and teenagers to share their feelings openly and process any past or current traumatic experiences they've had. I teach them healthy communication techniques they can use to express feelings, set boundaries or connect with those around them. I also provide healthy coping skills they can use to manage complex emotions.

Adult Therapy (18+ years)

I provide therapy to adults of all ages, who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-confidence, relationship problems, life transitions (graduation, moving, divorce, etc.) and stress. When life becomes "too much" and you find yourself feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope, know that help is not too far away. I provide a safe space where you can feel comfortable being open and vulnerable to share your struggles, I welcome everyone openly, with no judgement, and provide the support and guidance you need to heal and create a life that you love.

Brainspotting Therapy

Brainspotting therapy works by identifying, processing, and releasing sources of emotional pain, body pain, and trauma. If you struggle with unprocessed trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, or feeling stuck in life, Brainspotting may be a good option for you. It can help you release the emotions, pain and trauma that is stuck in your body, and therefore help you heal and sustain you to live a healthier life. Most clients report leaving a Brainspotting session feeling "lighter", "calmer", and "at peace".

Nature Informed Therapy

I am trained in Nature Informed Therapy, and I use nature as a co-therapist to assist clients in finding healing in their life. Nature automatically triggers the relaxation response in the brain, making you feel calm once you're immersed in it. Nature also contains lots of metaphors and messages that add meaning and healing to your life. If you've tried talk therapy and it hasn't worked for you, nature therapy may be a better fit.

Sand Tray Therapy

Sand tray therapy uses sand and a variety of miniature figurines to create stories that represent a person's inner world. It offers a protected space that helps people process traumatic memories or uncomfortable experiences that are too difficult to talk about. Research shows that Sand tray therapy has been effective in helping both children and adults that struggle with anxiety and trauma.

Supervision

Catherine is a board approved supervisor in the state of Maryland. She loves working with new therapists (LGPCs), that are looking to learn and grow in their licensing journey. Sessions include discussion of difficult cases, as well as answering questions that come up in their LGPC journey like how to deal with transference, countertransference, imposter syndrome, termination, etc. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in either individual or group supervision.
